MoU with UN Women in Pakistan
Sightsavers and our partners on the Ageing and Disability Task Force (ADTF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) in Pakistan.
This is fantastic news for Sightsavers, as a founder member of ADTF, and all of our partners on the Task Force who include Handicap International, CBM, CHEF International, Leonard Cheshire Disability, Help Age International and other leading disabled people’s organisations. We were delighted to attend the MOU signing ceremony which was held at the office of UN Women Pakistan on 5 August.
We are very proud of this achievement and would like to express special appreciation to other members of the Task Force and our partners
This MOU is a commitment that both ADTF member organisations and UN Women have deliberated on developing a common approach for better coordination and co-operations around linking the community and policy level of ageing and disability related work with the UN Women Pakistan initiatives in the area of gender equality and women’s empowerment, with special emphasis on:
- Strengthening of organisational collaborations on issues relating to Women with disability and Gender Equality in the humanitarian response in Pakistan
- Mapping of linkages between both partners and respective programmes and interventions both in development and humanitarian field
- Strengthening of ongoing collaboration around gender and humanitarian response in the Gender Task Force and the Humanitarian working group System by more rigorous involvement of ADTF member organisations
- The Partners of this MOU will work together to develop and to support public/private partnerships at the country level, affirming the mutual responsibilities of the government, civil society and the private sector
We are very proud of this achievement and would like to express special appreciation to other members of the Ageing and Disability Task Force (ADTF) and our DPO Partners in Pakistan for their continued support and encouragement in realising, mobilising and motivating for this important land mark.
